Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all the following criteria:

✅ Arrived in Canada within the last 5 years

✅ Born and/or raised in Hong Kong

✅ Currently residing in BC, Canada

✅ Currently a full-time post-secondary student in BC, Canada

✅ Completed at least 1 semester as a full-time post-secondary student in BC, Canada

Selection Criteria

✨ Strong academic performance with at least a 3 out of 4 GPA

✨ Active engagement within the Canadian community

✨ Show us your contributions and volunteering experience in Canada!

Documents Required for the Application

The documents below are required to complete the application. Please refer to the FAQ for more details. 📄 Transcript (the most recent) 📄 Community Involvement Summary (maximum 2 pages) - Please provide a summary of your community involvement or volunteer experience from the past 10 years. 📄 Submit an essay in English (not more than 1,000 words) / Chinese (not more than 1,300 words) - Titled "Settling in Canada: How do you envision contributing to your new community and making a positive impact?"

Timeline

🕰️ Applications must be submitted before Oct 13 11:59PM 🕰️ Finalists will be contacted in the first half of Nov 2024 🕰️ Scholarship recipients will be announced at the VKA annual celebration event on the evening of Nov 24, 2024.

Review Process

Applications will be carefully reviewed by a dedicated six-member committee, comprised of both VKA representatives and external experts, all based in BC, Canada. This diverse composition ensures a comprehensive and impartial evaluation of all applications. Each application is assessed against the eligibility requirements and selection criteria outlined in this form. We prioritize transparency and fairness in our review process and are committed to selecting deserving recipients.
